About Numbernomicon
Numbernomicon is a for-fun website that “predicts” Powerball numbers from the historical record of past drawings. It is built around a simple, transparent idea: take every Powerball result since 2010 and see which numbers history has favored.
How the prediction works
Our pick is not magic and not artificial intelligence — it is plain arithmetic that anyone can follow:
- We score every white ball (1–69) and every Powerball (1–26) by how often it has been drawn.
- More recent drawings count slightly more than older ones (a “recency-weighted” frequency), so the pick leans toward what has been hitting lately.
- We then take the top-scoring five white balls and top Powerball.
Because the calculation is based on fixed historical data, the prediction is stable between visits. It only changes when a new drawing happens and fresh data arrives.
The honest truth
Lottery drawings are random. Past results have no bearing on future outcomes, and no method — ours included — can improve your odds. We even show this on the site: across thousands of historical draws, no exact five-number combination has ever repeated. This project exists for curiosity and entertainment, not as a betting strategy.
What you’ll find here
- The most recent actual winning numbers.
- Our recency-weighted “crystal-ball” pick for the next draw.
- A running track record of how our past picks have done.
- What was drawn during this week in previous years.
- Hot and cold numbers, frequent pairs, lucky trios, and fun number facts.
Data
Historical drawing data comes from publicly available New York State Open Data. Powerball is a national game; New York simply publishes a convenient public record of results.
